Hands of Hope began as an income-generating project in 2005, for those living with HIV/AIDS. Facing discrimination in their village communities, the people have found support and unconditional acceptance at the Good Shepherd ‘Friendship Centre’ Nongkhai, in northeastern Thailand. During the week, while their children attend school, they work together to produce beautiful, handmade cards, decorations, mobiles and gifts, using Thailand’s famous ‘saa paper’ as the main medium, which is made from the bark of the mulberry tree.
