Alice’s Day on Broad Street

Fairtrade at St Michael’s are joining the Alice’s Day celebrations for the very first time.

Saturday 2nd July
11am – 4pm

There will be a fair trade cupcake competition (the madder, the better!) with celebrity judges and amazing prizes.

A crafts station where you can make a tiny teapot or a paper flower, as well as a photo booth to take your photo as the Mad Hatter or Cheshire cat!

There will also be an opportunity to learn all about fair trade producers, the links to Oxford, and purchase some goodies.

We are working in collaboration with The Story Museum, and you can find out more about the Alice Day celebrations here.

Plus everyone that takes part gets a Fairtrade goody bag!

Let’s go down the rabbit hole together, and have a mad time this summer.

Fairtrade Baking Competition

Create a delicious cupcake with totally bonkers decorations to be in with a chance to win some fantastic prizes.

Come to Broad Street between 11am and 1pm to drop off your masterpiece, ready for judging. Don’t forget to pick up your token to take to the Fairtrade at St Michael’s shop round the corner for your goody bag!

Prizes to be won include a meal for two at The White Rabbit pub, two tickets to an Oxford Festival of the Arts performance, and an illustrated copy of Alice in Wonderland with two tickets to The Story Museum.

The cakes and their mad decorations will be judged by Kelly Mauger, from 2018’s season of Bake Off: The Professionals and Jess McHugh, founder and owner of Silvie in East Oxford.

The winners will be announced at 2pm!

As part of the competition, we would like you to use as many fairtrade products as you can – why not pop in and buy some:

We also have some funky stripy ceramics to serve them in too. Stop by and ask for some advice from our friendly staff and volunteers.

You’ll be asked upon entering which fairtrade ingredients you used, so maybe jot them down before you come to Broad Street (you don’t win or lose points, it’s just out of curiosity!)

And remember – taste isn’t everything – go absolutely mad with those decorations. Maybe the cake is fit for the Red Queen? Or petite and sweet like Alice? You choose!

We can’t wait to see what you all come up with.
