Another lockdown has forced Fairtrade at St Michaels to close its doors again. It’s frustrating to find ourselves categorised as ‘non-essential’ at this season of the year when, like so many small independent traders, we depend on healthy Christmas sales. But even more frustrating that it comes at a time when fair trade has never been MORE essential – not for our sake, but for the sake of producers around the world whose livelihoods are at stake.
So we’re determined to keep selling our wonderful range of products, and we’re asking for your support.
No need to wait for the shop to re-open! Our lovely new website offers a click and collect service where you can order both everyday essentials and beautiful gifts, for collection at a pre-arranged time, either from the shop or from a pick-up point in north Oxfordshire.
All Items from our online craft offering, including jewellery, scarves, masks and Christmas cards, can be posted to you on request. Scroll on to find out more…
Click and Collect All orders received by 12pm on Wednesdays will be available for collection from the shop – Thurs, Fri & Sat between 12-3pm. Do contact the shop by email if these times are not possible for you.
You will be contacted by a member of staff to arrange a 30-minute slot for collecting your goods on one of these days. The shop will be open for Click and Collect customers only. Please follow COVID guidelines.

When the shop (hopefully) re-opens on 3rd December, there will be just 21 shopping days till Christmas. Please help us to rescue Christmas for our suppliers and producers by visiting us then and choosing from the fantastic cornucopia of gifts, food and homeware that makes Fairtrade at St Michaels a unique shopping destination in central Oxford.
We don’t believe in cancelling Christmas! We want to deliver the best present we can to our producers; the more of their products we sell, the greater the benefits for their families, communities and businesses. What could be more ‘essential’? With your support we can still make this a good Christmas for them as well as for those who will be unwrapping your fantastic fair trade gifts on Christmas Day.
