Fairtrade at St Michaels has been a hub for all things fair, ethical and sustainable in the heart of Oxford city centre since 2003. Seventeen years later, and despite all the upheavals in the retail sector, our Aladdin’s Cave of a shop is still thriving and has achieved a total turnover well in excess of £2.25 million – representing a real boost to the livelihood of the farmers and craftspeople around the world who supply us with their wonderful products.
At the start of 2020, the COVID pandemic hit the world. As a non-essential shop, Fairtrade at St Michaels had to close our doors to the public for three months during lockdown. However, we have taken this ‘pause’ as an opportunity for learning, adaptation, and growth.
On the 23rd October, Fairtrade at St Michaels celebrated 17 years of trading by launching a new website. Working with designers Pixel and Dot, we have created a website that reflects the vibrancy & colour of our shop.
Nothing can rival the pleasure of a real-life visit to our real-life shop, but during COVID times, this poses a challenge for many. Fairtrade at St Michaels is proud to be venturing into Online Retailing with the launch of a new Click & Collect service.
We have changed with the times, but at the end of the day, we still have Fair Trade down in the heart of everything that we do. We will continue our fight for a fairer, and more just world for all. And would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to our wonderful team!
And most importantly, we would love to say THANK YOU to all our customers, who have supported us during these difficult months.
